Conference Talk Links That Update After the Session

Put a link on your slide that points to slides now and a recording later.

The scenario

You're giving a talk at a conference. You want to put a short, memorable link on your slides so the audience can access resources — but what the link should point to changes over time. During the talk, it should link to the slide deck. After the talk, it should point to the recording.

How to set it up

1. Create a Redirect by Date & Time link

Go to the Redirect by Date & Time tool and set up two phases:

  • May 15, 16:00 (your talk's end time) → Your slide deck URL
  • Default → The recording, a resource page, or a blog post with follow-up materials

Before the cutoff, visitors see the slides. After it, they're redirected to the recording — automatically.

Redirect by Date & Time

Specify where users should be redirected to depending on the date & time they click on your link.

2. Set a memorable URL

Give it a custom URL like nimble.li/talk or nimble.li/my-talk-2026. This is what you'll put on your slides and what attendees will type or scan.

3. Add it to your slides

Put the URL on your opening or closing slide. Generate a QR code so attendees can scan instead of type — especially useful in large rooms.

4. Upload the recording later

Once the recording is published, update the Default destination to the recording URL. If you set the date correctly, the link already transitioned — but you might not have the recording URL ready at setup time. That's fine. Set the Default to a placeholder page ("Recording coming soon") and update it once it's available.

What you get

  • Automatic transition — The link switches from slides to recording on the date you set. No manual intervention needed.
  • One URL for the lifecycle of the talk — Attendees save one link. It stays relevant from the live session through to the published recording.
  • Engagement data — Analytics show how many people clicked during the talk vs. days or weeks later. Useful for understanding how far your talk's reach extends beyond the room.

Variations

QR code on the final slide

A QR code on your closing slide is the most effective way to capture the audience. They scan it in the moment, and the same QR code works whether they scan it during the talk or weeks later when they revisit the slide deck.

Multiple talks

If you speak at multiple events, use folders to organize links by conference. Each talk gets its own link, its own analytics, and its own date-based transition.

Adding more phases

You're not limited to two phases. Add a third for a "coming soon" teaser before the conference:

  • May 14, 09:00 → "Talk happening tomorrow" teaser page
  • May 15, 16:00 → Slide deck
  • Default → Recording
