Custom URLs
Name your links
Replace random strings with readable, memorable URLs for any link.
What it does
Every link you create gets an auto-generated URL like nimble.li/x7Kq2mR. Custom URLs let you replace that random string with something readable — like nimble.li/summer-sale or nimble.li/meetup-march.

When this is useful
Sharing links verbally or in presentations
If you're reading a link out loud — in a talk, a podcast, or a meeting — nimble.li/pro-plan is easy to say and remember. A random string isn't.
Printed materials
On flyers, business cards, or signage, a clean URL looks intentional. It also means someone can type it from memory instead of needing to scan a QR code.
Recognizable links in social and email
A custom URL in a tweet or email gives readers a hint of where they're going before they click. That context builds trust and improves click-through rates.
Setting a custom URL
Open any link's URL settings and type your custom URL in the Custom URL field. It replaces the auto-generated string immediately.
In your link settings
Use letters, numbers, and hyphens. Min 3 characters.
URL rules
- Allowed characters — Letters, numbers, and hyphens. Must start and end with a letter or number.
- Minimum length — 3 characters on nimble.li. No minimum on custom domains.
- Uniqueness — Custom URLs must be unique. On nimble.li, they're unique globally. On a custom domain, they only need to be unique within that domain.
- Reserved words — Some common paths like
admin, api, andloginare reserved on nimble.li to avoid conflicts. These restrictions don't apply to custom domains.
Pairs with custom domains
Custom URLs work on both nimble.li and your own custom domains. On a custom domain, you can even use the root URL — just leave the custom URL empty to make go.acme.co itself a link.
To get started, create a link and set a custom URL in the URL settings.
